Entry into Slovakia

Today, we bicycled from Vienna 70km and entered Slovakia. We rode past the now abandoned border checkpoint and ignored the old bunkers and barb wire. Our journey to Bratislava took about 4 hours but the weather was perfect with cloudy skies but no rain or wind. We really liked Bratislava. It had a cosmopolitan city center and everyone seemed friendly in this the capital of Slovokia. Suddenly, I remember the soviet invasion of Hungary and Czechoslovakia from the 60s and it seems more real now then it did at the time. These countries have had so much political change in the past 50 years and local people discuss these events with passion.
