Our next stay is in Tasch, a small town that is the jumping off point for Zermat. Here at a small and traditional style hotel, we have stinging nettle soup. It is delicious and not at all fiery like the plant from which it is made.
Zermat is a city that does not allow automobiles. So we get on the train at Tasch and take a 20 minute ride to the train station in Zermat. Zermat as you probably know is a famous ski town that makes Sun Valley seem middle class. We do not stay long in Zermat because we we have tickets on the Gornergratbahn railway which will take us up the mountain 10,000 feet towards the Matterhorn. From this location we can walk about and see the glaciers and the mountains of this section of the Alps. The view is stunning and the weather cooperative. We are truly fortunate.
